Hello, old friend
Sunday, August 31st, 2008

This was the last deck I bought, somewhere around 1990. As things timed out, I can just about count on one hand the number of times I rode it. Not enjoying the exercise of my inherited 10-speed, however, I broke out the WD-40 and gave the bearings an overhaul. It didn’t help a lot, but [...]

Lemonade, 25 cents
Sunday, August 24th, 2008

The kids set up their first lemonade stand today. From an adult perspective, it’s amazing that the ‘ade hasn’t appreciated one cent since I first ran a stand in my childhood. I guess that’s a good sign for the economy. More people stopped for them than ever did for me, which I attribute to many [...]

Top o’ Ledges
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Today we find ourselves in Hinckley Reservation, about 40 minutes south of the Q. Who ever said there isn’t anything to do close to home?

More pix from NIN
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Rarely does the light show at a concert excite me. And now, NIN

Another day at the office
Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Today we went to work, then down to the Jake (I don’t care — it’s still the Jake) for a game. Not a bad day at the office. In the background you might see the NIN banner — tomorrow night, I’ll be there.

Most daring DIY project?
Sunday, August 17th, 2008

I realize that, on scale from 1 to Impossible, what I did isn’t that amazing, but when you look back on a day that included half of a 14-inch hole in the roof and a broken jigsaw blade, you see how very disastrous things could have been. Fortunately, it all worked out, and now the [...]

There’s a hole in my roof
Sunday, August 17th, 2008

That 14-inch hole in my roof was not an act of God, nor was it an act of aliens. I did that. Although, sitting up here, looking down into my family room, I’m starting to question the wisdom of DIY tubular skylights.

The Faraway Park
Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

The Faraway Park (as we call it) is a lovely bike ride away, and the best neighborhood park within walking distance. This, of course, assumes the weather is a temperate 70 degrees with low humidity. Today, it is neither.
